In one case, where the under-floor cabling trays were almost full, Nexans and its installation partner devised a way of installing a second levelof trays. As space was limited and installation had to be completed swiftly to avoid disruption to business, Nexans pre-terminated cables provided the perfect answer. A total of 92,000 metres of zip-twin construction (ZC), duplex low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH), high performance OM3 fibres were installed, organized into bundlesso they can be easily moved or redistributedlater. “That was of real importance– we were able to find a solution because we responded to the customer’s request and became involved in the early stages”, notes Phillips.

Another installation has seen the use of LANmark-OF snap-in connectors, enabling patch panels to be populated only as required, with no wasted positions. Over 50 km of mini zip fibre was used here. In another, pre-terminated Tight Buffered cable, pre-configured for switch interfaces at one end and panels at the other was installed, totaling 261km of OM3 core.
